Did you know that complaining is extremely unhealthy? Not only can the negative inner-gy cause stress and illness ( ailments) in the body. Negativity can also rewire the brain to become anxious and depressed.
We know that not everyone can be happy and positive all of the time, but complaining all of the time has harmful effects on the overall well-being. Constant complaining lowers one's vibration. In turn, your lowered vibration attracts people and situations to you that matches its frequency. If you are enduring a tough time, I can assure you, complaining about it will only add on to what you are already experiencing.
We have to condition ourselves to see the glass "half full" vs "half empty" One might say, "Well either way the glass only has half, so does it really matter?" Indeed it does matter. Seeing the glass half empty sends signals to the brain that danger is imminent. This causes the fight or flight sensors to take over and our mind and bodies go into a panicked mode, in preparation to save ourselves from doom. Adversely, the glass half full view point, allows our brain to receive the signal that all is well. The brain then knows that things are safe and ultimately inspires us to push harder for the greatness that awaits us.
No one wants a Negative Nancy in their lives, nor do we want to be one. However, sometimes we don't know that we are. We have been the way we are for so long that we think our way of being is fine. Others around us may not be strong enough to let us know that we need to check ourselves. Because we are as successful as the people we hang around most, we should most definitely look at this more seriously.
Here are a few signs that may indicate that you or someone you know is the complainer and inner-gy drainer of the bunch:
Constantly complaining about everything in their life. For every solution they find a problem. Every time you see them they have a problem or something is wrong.
They are extremely judgmental. It is hard to have a conversation with them because they have something negative to say about everything and everyone.
They are often known to others as a drama king/queen. Every where they go and every one they encounter has an issue with them.
They are never happy for anyone else. You strongly dislike sharing your accomplishments with them because you know they will not be happy for you.
Anytime you speak the conversation is always about them and their problems. They never seem concerned about anything going on with you.
If this is you or someone you know, it is best to address this situation as lovingly as possible. Because we want to attract as much positivity into our lives as possible, we must be the positivity that we seek. You may want to acknowledge that complaining places you at higher risk for depression, poor self esteem, depression, anxiety attacks and it weakens your immune system. Those factors alone are enough to help one focus on turning that complaining into being more mindful and appreciative. Remembering that no matter how bad things are, they can always be so much worse, helps to cease the complaining.
Let's touch on how we can put a halt on the negativity...
Surround yourself with positive thoughts, people and things.
Practice mindfulness everyday.
Ask yourself, "Is this complaint worth my inner-gy and time? Better yet, is it worth me attracting more of it into my life?"
Learn to flow with life instead of resisting. Most of our problems come from things not going the way we "think" they should go. Instead, we should learn to trust that The Divine Source knows what's best for us. Trust the process.
When you realize you are complaining, find one positive thing to say about what you are complaining about. Repeat that 3 times or more until you are now in a state of gratitude and no longer in complaint mode.
Think on happy times and allow yourself to embody how those times made you feel.
Do more of what makes you happy.
Remember how far you've come and be proud of yourself for all that you have achieved.
Be less judgmental.
Commit to finding a solution to whatever you are complaining about. If you are not willing to put forth an effort to make it better, than you shouldn't complain about it.
Find more positive ways to relieve stress instead of complaining about it. Go for a walk, watch a comedy show, take a bubble bath, listen to your favorite music.
Remove yourself from the situation or person that is causing your upset.
If you feel it is too much to handle on your own, seek a professional that can help you talk through your emotions to get yourself back to your happy place.
The ultimate objective is your overall health and well-being. Take the steps necessary to bring balance and peace back into your life. Keep in mind that change is the only thing that is constant in life. So, if things are trying now, just know that the pendulum will soon swing the other way and your better days will come.
Peace & Blessings!
